SkyFall unveils its new “long” version of the P1-SUN Long FPV interceptor drone for the first time, which is already downing “Shaheds,” features integrated AI, and has double the range of its predecessor. Here’s what is known about it.
Ukrainian company SkyFall, at the world’s largest arms exhibition Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, has presented for the first time a new iteration of its well-known P1-SUN FPV interceptor drone, named P1-SUN Long.
The updated version boasts significantly enhanced specifications and capabilities compared to the previous model. Specifically, the P1-SUN Long features a flight range of 33 km, a service ceiling of up to 9 km, an 800-gram warhead, and a maximum speed exceeding 310 km/h.
“Shaheds” will now be shot down twice as far, as the “long” P1-SUN was shown for the first time, and it is already downing rashist drones. Read: https://t.co/7CJ61odPH6 pic.twitter.com/kj8OCNrYps

For comparison, the prior P1-SUN version had the following specifications: a maximum flight range reported between 15 to 23 km, a ceiling of up to 5 km, an 800-gram warhead, and a top speed over 300 km/h.
Furthermore, the new P1-SUN Long incorporates integrated artificial intelligence capable of autonomous target detection, tracking, and lock-on. This integration simplifies operator workload, enabling faster and more precise engagement.

Notably, the onboard AI module in the P1-SUN Long utilizes a standard processor for its computations, rather than expensive and scarce graphics cards, which are in high demand due to the popularity of AI. According to the company, this approach aims to ensure stable production continuity, especially if market conditions become challenging.
For training the onboard artificial intelligence, SkyFall has leveraged thousands of hours of real-world flight data and simulations. The development of this AI was further aided by the company’s own drone, designed to mimic the thermal signature of a “Shahed.”

Additionally, the P1-SUN Long is integrated with SkyFall’s remote control system, allowing the interceptor to be operated from any location globally with an internet connection. Moreover, the new P1-SUN Long version features a system for remote software and AI algorithm updates, even directly at the front lines.
The company highlights that the P1-SUN Long is already actively defending Ukrainian skies, with the Ukrainian defense forces having successfully intercepted dozens of Russian “Shaheds” using it to date. It is worth recalling that the previous P1-SUN version had already intercepted thousands of Russian drones.

This year, the previous P1-SUN version, along with several other FPV interceptor drones, was the first in the world to be integrated onto an An-28 aircraft, transforming the conventional transport plane into a dedicated “Shahed” fighter.

Recalling SkyFall and the Eurosatory 2026 international exhibition, it is pertinent to remember that this Ukrainian company will be collaborating with aviation giant Airbus, which could see the P1-SUN become a component of Europe’s counter-drone systems.
