Конфлікти в Європі не є викликом для Польщі, яка має намір продовжувати придбання американських F-35, що є цілком розумним кроком.

Poland has already begun receiving the first of 32 American F-35 fighters and intends to procure more to strengthen its air force.

A drama is unfolding in Europe concerning the development of sixth-generation fighters and the future of aviation on the continent. Meanwhile, Poland continues to calmly enhance its own capabilities with plans for further acquisitions of American F-35s.

Further orders for combat aircraft from the USA have been confirmed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, Wiesław Kukuła. According to him, this is part of the country’s Armed Forces Development Plan (PRSZ) for 2025–2039, with all associated conditions.

Defense Express notes that this is a logical decision at the present time, considering that the American fighter is currently one of the best available assets. Moreover, it is already being mass-produced and actively supplied to European countries. Polish citizens also have a positive perception of armaments from the USA, unlike some European NATO members who are seeking local alternatives.

In May 2026, the first F-35As, which received the local designation Husarz, meaning “Hussar,” arrived in Poland. A total of 32 aircraft were ordered, with the contract signed in January 2020.

Poland will continue to receive fifth-generation fighters from the USA until 2029, meaning approximately 9 years will pass from the agreement’s conclusion to its full execution. Therefore, for subsequent procurements, timelines must be considered, even though the Polish plan is designed for 2025-2039.

Previously, Poland considered purchasing new fighters, exploring various options including the F-15EX and Eurofighter Typhoon. However, given budget constraints, it is plausible that the F-35 will be the chosen platform.

Currently, the Polish Air Force, in addition to the F-35, operates MiG-29s, which may be transferred to Ukraine, F-16s scheduled for modernization, as well as South Korean FA-50GF light combat trainers and Italian M-346 trainers.

Poland is also awaiting new FA-50PL light fighters, but their delivery is delayed due to various issues. Among these was the matter of armament, specifically the integration of AIM-120 air-to-air missiles.
