Ukrainian long-range drones launched a devastating strike on the warehouses of the Russian internet giant Wildberries in the cities of Elektrostal and Kotovsk. This attack was a direct response to Russian terror, as the company’s logistics network was actively used for the clandestine supply of spare parts for Russian drones.

Unmanned aerial vehicles precisely hit a massive hub in the city of Elektrostal, 50 kilometers east of Moscow, as well as a fulfillment center in Kotovsk. As a result of a series of explosions and a large-scale fire, the sky over the Moscow region was enveloped in thick black smoke, covering an area of over 5,000 square kilometers.
Social media users immediately dubbed this giant plume of smoke the “epicenter of Mordor,” as it literally overshadowed the sun in neighboring cities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that these facilities were directly involved in supplying navigation equipment to the Russian army. Consequently, the elimination of the hubs became a symmetrical response to Russia’s regular bombings of Ukrainian postal terminals.
According to Russian officials, at least eight warehouse workers died as a result of the attack, and more than sixty people were injured. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin traditionally tried to downplay the scale of the disaster, claiming the interception of dozens of drones, although actual footage of the destruction indicates a complete failure of Russian air defense.
Panic Among Sellers and Canceled Compensation
The destroyed complex in Elektrostal, with an area of over 17,000 square meters, was the second-largest distribution center for Wildberries in Russia. The loss of such a hub, through which a huge portion of the 20 million orders passed daily, means a critical increase in delivery times and immense financial losses.
Interestingly, back in July, the marketplace’s management prudently changed its service rules, refusing to pay compensation to third-party sellers for goods destroyed during attacks. Russian military experts are already sounding the alarm: sellers will be left without money and will direct their anger not at Kyiv, but at their own government and the company’s leadership, which will provoke serious social tension.
Fuel Crisis as a Bonus
Experts note that although Wildberries is formally a civilian platform, the Russian military regularly uses it to purchase tactical gear, body armor, and spare parts for quadcopters. Moreover, the company’s owners are among the closest circle of businessmen on whose absolute financial and political support the dictatorial Putin regime relies.
In addition to logistics centers, Ukrainian drones successfully attacked an oil depot in the city of Noginsk, causing another large-scale fire near the warehouses. These systematic strikes on oil refining infrastructure have already led to a decrease in fuel production by at least 30 percent, causing Russian drivers to face a severe shortage of gasoline and a sharp rise in prices.
Recall that an expert said where Ukraine will strike after Russia’s oil refineries. According to Sergey Grabs-ky, the Defense Forces have found a pressure point that can influence the Kremlin’s calculations regarding the cost-benefit ratio.
