In Poznań, Polish authorities detained two men suspected of involvement in an anti-Ukrainian incident. They attempted to enter the office of a Ukrainian company, posing provocative questions to employees about Stepan Bandera and the company’s operations in Poland.
This was announced by the Minister of Interior and Administration of Poland, Marcin Kierwiński, on social media platform X.
“Following the incident at the Poznań University of Economics, police have detained two individuals. There is no room for hatred and aggression. In such cases, the Polish police will react decisively,” stated the head of the Ministry of Interior.
According to Polish media, the incident occurred on July 3rd in a building where a Ukrainian entrepreneur rents an office. A video of the event quickly circulated on social media, causing significant public reaction.
Provocation at a Ukrainian Company’s Office
The recording shows several men attempting to gain access to the premises of a Ukrainian company. They claimed they wanted to ascertain whether the employees “support Stepan Bandera.”
The men asserted that “Ukraine is hostile towards Poland,” questioned the office owner about her stance on Bandera, and inquired why she was conducting business in Poland rather than in Ukraine.
The woman refused to allow the strangers into the office, emphasizing that her company operates legally and that she herself respects the Polish people.
The police of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship reported that the Ukrainian woman filed a complaint with law enforcement on July 7th.
The investigation is currently underway under a statute concerning defamation and the dissemination of materials that could harm the reputation of the victim or demean her in the public eye.
If found guilty, the detained individuals face a fine, community service, or imprisonment for up to one year.
The Ministry of Interior of Poland stressed that it will not tolerate expressions of hatred or aggression motivated by national origin.
The ministry emphasized that every person, regardless of citizenship or background, is entitled to respect and equal treatment.
