Mobilization is ongoing in Ukraine, during which, tentatively — this week or the next, a meeting is planned between parliamentarians and representatives of the Ministry of Defense. During this meeting, the latter intend to discuss further amendments to the conscription process.

Sources within the Verkhovna Rada informed TSN.ua about this, but clarified that the meeting will proceed provided there are no significant personnel changes within the Ministry of Defense leadership.

In turn, parliamentarians, who usually comment on the course of mobilization, told TSN.ua that, in their opinion, “the situation has somewhat stabilized” currently, when comparing this process in small towns and, for example, in Kyiv.

“After more systemic mobilization measures were implemented in cities, and we see this in the example of Kyiv, where relevant mobile notification groups, including police officers, appeared, the situation has somewhat stabilized. It’s unlikely one can say it fully mirrors the situation in smaller settlements. There are settlements, for instance, rural ones, where, by and large, there are no specialists left who could operate a tractor or a combine. But overall, I believe the situation is evening out. The process continues,” shared Fedir Venislavskyi, a representative of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, in a comment to TSN.ua.

Furthermore, according to him, alternative operational formats beyond street notifications are possible within the mobilization process:

“I think other forms are possible. We expect proposals on this matter from the Ministry of Defense; they already have developments. I cannot discuss them publicly yet; these are Ministry of Defense ideas that could carry out similar measures without street roundups. But it’s difficult to say for now, as we haven’t seen the full picture or proposals. And due to personnel changes, adjustments might emerge. But we are waiting.”

He added that, in his view, a potential intensification of mobilization in Russia after the State Duma elections “will definitely not lead to mirrored requirements in Ukraine.”

“We are trying to shift the war into a maximally technological plane using various aerial, surface, and underwater vehicles to inflict maximum damage on the enemy. I think this trend should at least be maintained, and ideally, it should be replicated,” says Venislavskyi.

In turn, Iryna Friz, a parliamentarian from the Rada’s defense committee, shared her stance on the mobilization issue: “In my opinion, the changes should be radical. I can emphasize once again that I stand by the position of removing TCCs not only from the command of the Ground Forces but also from the subordination of the Ministry of Defense. I believe that notification and this stage of mobilization should be more actively carried out by local self-government bodies.”

As a reminder, it was previously reported that the procedure for serving summons might change. A high-profile bill has been registered in the Rada.
