The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that Ukraine is allegedly withdrawing its troops from the border with his country.
He said this in an interview with Al Arabiya English, which was reported by Belarusian media.
The journalist noted that, according to her information, Ukraine is strengthening its northern border, meaning it is concentrating additional resources there.
“No, he (Zelenskyy – Ed.) is not gathering any resources there. Firstly, we noticed this. On the contrary, when the verbal dispute in the media reached its peak, the Ukrainians, by about 40 kilometers, moved those troops that were there, and these were mainly territorial defense forces. That is, civilians were called up, mostly. They withdrew 40 kilometers from the border. These troops were withdrawn,” Lukashenko claims.
The Belarusian dictator claims that Ukraine allegedly simply does not have enough personnel to reinforce its northern border, as all human resources are being directed to the front.
“You say he is gathering. Even if he wanted to gather something, he doesn’t have the capability. The West is already hinting to him and openly saying: ‘You don’t need weapons, you need people, you are short of people at the front.’ Where could he possibly draw them from? He cannot pull them from the zone of active hostilities. Where Russian and Ukrainian forces are clashing, they are engaged along a thousand-kilometer front. He cannot take troops from Donbas, Zaporizhzhia, the Kharkiv direction, or Luhansk to move them to the Belarusian border. Therefore, we understand who is on the other side against us. These are yesterday’s mechanics and workers, not all of whom know how to shoot. And are we going to attack them? With a professional army? No, of course,” the dictator stated confidently.
Lukashenko believes that an armed confrontation between Ukraine and Belarus is impossible. At the same time, he does not rule out the possibility of attacks by Ukrainian drones.
“He has no people. And this is one of the peculiarities of this year. There has always been a deficit on one side or the other. Russians have this deficit, perhaps not as much as Ukraine, but they do. But this is the main issue of the conflict. The people have run out,” the dictator mused.
Does Ukraine have anything to fear from Belarus?
“Absolutely nothing. They know this. And the military knows this. The people, the nation of Ukraine, knows this. But due to some political ambitions, this topic is being inflamed,” assured the dictator Lukashenko, who, on the eve of the invasion in February 2022, had already assured that there was no danger to Ukraine from the Belarusian border.
Earlier, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus stated that the war should be stopped at the negotiating table in the format of “Lukashenko – Putin – Zelenskyy.”
Let us remind you, Robert (Madar) Brovdi stated that Ukraine has prepared a list of 500 targets in Belarus that could be attacked if Lukashenko’s regime decides to support Russia in the war.
