Spain remains one of the most popular countries among Ukrainians considering moving abroad. However, according to a Ukrainian woman who has been living in Valencia for some time, life there has not only advantages but also significant drawbacks that are worth knowing in advance.
She shared her observations on social media.
Heat that is difficult to get used to
The woman names the climate as the first peculiarity. She notes that Spain is very diverse in terms of weather conditions, but in many southern regions, summers can be extremely hot.
Specifically, in Valencia, where she lives, high summer temperatures can be exhausting, especially for those unaccustomed to prolonged heat.
Slow pace of life
Another point that, according to the Ukrainian woman, can surprise foreigners is the work style and attitude towards matters of the locals.
“Sometimes their slowness and carelessness are truly annoying,” she noted.
In her opinion, people accustomed to a fast pace of life and prompt problem-solving will have to adapt to the local mentality.
Lack of 24-hour stores
The blogger also pointed out that there are almost no 24-hour stores in Spain.
In large cities, finding such outlets is still possible, but in general, it is more of an exception than a rule. Therefore, shopping often has to be planned in advance.
Harder to find work
The Ukrainian woman considers the situation in the labor market to be the most serious downside for those planning to move.
According to her, finding a job in Spain can be more difficult than in some other Western European countries, particularly in the Netherlands, Belgium, or Germany.
At the same time, she clarified that this problem hardly affects people who work remotely or have a stable online income.
Despite the listed disadvantages, the Ukrainian woman emphasized that, personally, she still sees more advantages to living in Spain. However, before moving, she advises realistically assessing all possible difficulties and understanding whether you are ready for such peculiarities of the country.
Earlier, we discussed ancient cities worth spending a vacation in. This list is for those who want to feel the European spirit without excessive costs; it’s worth paying attention to less famous cities.
