Embassy of three countries announced their work in Kyiv despite the threats of the Russian Federation.

Following statements by the Russian Federation about possible strikes on the capital of Ukraine, the embassies of three European countries issued joint appeals. Thus, the missions of Germany, France, and Great Britain on Kyiv Day stated that they continue to operate as usual, despite Russia’s threats of new attacks and calls for foreign diplomats to leave the city.
The joint statement of the diplomatic missions was published on May 31 on social networks.
“We are here, dear Kyiv. You have become our second home, and it is impossible not to love you. Your beautiful, brave people, who bring back light even after the darkest nights. Your openness to the world and faith – in times of trial. Your stubbornness and fight for freedom,” the appeal reads.
The diplomats also emphasized that they believe in the future of the Ukrainian capital and are proud to support Ukraine during the war.
“We believe in your future and are proud to be by your side. Steadfastly yours – the Embassy of Germany, the Embassy of France, the Embassy of Great Britain,” the joint message stated.
The statement came against the backdrop of new threats from Russia. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stated that the Russian army is allegedly “starting” systemic strikes on targets in Kyiv, which Moscow considers to be related to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia’s Statement on Another Attack on Ukraine
On May 25, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced its intention to “consistently carry out systematic strikes” on Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, including in Kyiv.
The Russian statement mentioned possible attacks on “decision-making centers” and command posts. Separately, Moscow urged foreign citizens and diplomatic missions to leave Kyiv.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga stated that such threats are an attempt at psychological pressure on international partners and diplomats.
“Russian blackmail will not work,” emphasized the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thanking partner states for their support and the continued work of their missions in the capital.
