Russia continues to exert influence on Belarus, where an expansion of military facilities is currently being noted.
This was stated by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, during a national telethon broadcast.
Situation at the Belarusian Border – Demchenko’s Statement
According to the SBSU spokesperson, the situation near the Ukrainian border remains under control, with no increase in troops, equipment, or the formation of new strike forces.
“According to intelligence data, Russia’s influence on Belarus persists. Deeper within the country, military infrastructure facilities are being expanded – both training grounds and bases suitable for housing personnel. Therefore, our task is to enhance our defensive capabilities and be prepared for any developments,” stated Andriy Demchenko.
The spokesperson clarified that the grouping deployed near the Ukrainian border in 2022, following statements by self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko about an alleged threat from Ukraine, remains in place.
“I would add that the number of units Belarus has maintained in the direction of our border since 2022 is not increasing; instead, periodic rotations occur, which we are observing now. At this moment, one unit is being replaced by another,” Demchenko noted.
