The supply of ammunition under contracts worth UAH 23 billion has been fully completed. All goods have been delivered and transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was announced by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, in an interview with Wprost, as reported by Karolina Siudło, spokesperson for PHU Lechmar.
According to him, the procurements, which became the subject of sharp criticism and public discussions at the end of 2024, have been fully completed.
“I can confirm that the supply of ammunition under contracts amounting to UAH 23 billion, which caused furious unfounded criticism at the end of 2024, has been executed in full volume,” stated Demchenko.
The spokesperson emphasized that all products have already been handed over to the Ukrainian military.
“All goods have been fully supplied and transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he noted.
Demchenko recalled that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine received authority to carry out defense procurement for the needs of the army by a government decision, and the nomenclature and quantity of necessary ammunition were determined and agreed upon by the Ministry of Defense.
What is known about the Polish company PHU Lechmar
Demchenko separately commented on the work of the Polish company PHU Lechmar, which ensured the supply.
“The supply was carried out by the Polish company PHU Lechmar, which was slandered all this time. Many assumed that the ammunition would not be delivered, claimed that the funds were simply wasted, and so on,” said the spokesperson.
According to Demchenko, the results of the contract execution have refuted such assumptions.
“Instead, we have the opposite – the ammunition has been purchased, delivered, and transferred to the Armed Forces for use on the front lines,” he stressed.
Cost of ammunition: State Border Guard Service refutes accusations of inflated prices
The spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service also dismissed accusations of inflated prices during procurement.
“The cost of ammunition at which the procurement took place is one of the lowest. Pricing and supply conditions were under the constant control of the relevant controlling services of Ukraine. Allegations of inflated prices are untrue,” stated Demchenko.
He added that the border agency has experience in conducting defense procurement and continues to fulfill contracts both for its own units and for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that earlier, the Polish company PHU Lechmar also announced the full and timely execution of the contract with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine for the supply of ammunition worth UAH 23 billion.
