In the state of Florida, USA, a domestic quarrel in a supermarket parking lot ended in a homicide. A woman fatally shot 62-year-old retired Army Sergeant Major Bart Diguilielmo following an argument over a car space.
This is reported by Lad Bible.
The incident occurred on June 30 near a Walmart store in North Lauderdale. According to law enforcement, a conflict erupted between the veteran and an unidentified woman. Eyewitnesses captured the event on video: the footage shows the pair arguing, with the woman already holding a pistol.
At one point, Diguilielmo walked around his vehicle and approached his opponent, after which she shot him in the abdomen. The man was hospitalized but died in the hospital from his injuries. One of the witnesses to the incident told reporters that he heard the beginning of the conflict.
“I was walking up and heard a woman screaming. She was yelling and saying a lot of things,” he noted.
The woman who fired the shot remained at the scene. She claims she acted in self-defense and is currently cooperating with the investigation. Law enforcement agencies confirmed that the tragedy was caused by a parking dispute.
The relatives of the deceased are shocked by the event and deny that Bart could have behaved aggressively. According to relatives, the man had three children, previously worked as a trauma nurse, and was a deeply religious person.
“I just don’t think anyone deserved to lose their life over a parking spot. He was a good man. My dad is not that kind of person. He’s not perfect, but he’s not someone who would go to such extremes,” stated the deceased’s daughter, Amanda.
The deceased’s sister also emphasized her brother’s positive qualities in a comment to journalists.
“He was a Christian and a very good person and wouldn’t harm anyone,” she stated.
The police are continuing their investigation. The collected case materials will be forwarded to the state prosecutor’s office, which will make the final decision regarding the filing of criminal charges against the woman.
