The mobilization in the Russian Federation is quite likely immediately after the elections. Ukrainian intelligence assessed the enemy’s current capabilities and the threat from Belarus.

In Russia, they will try to avoid the topic of mobilization as much as possible before the elections, but its conduct cannot be completely ruled out. Currently, no new training centers for preparing recruits in the Russian army are being recorded, however, the existing capacities are more than sufficient to train “cannon fodder”.
This was stated by Andriy Chernyak, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
Mobilization in Russia
“In the Kremlin, they will now try to avoid the topic of mobilization as much as possible and say that it will not happen, because they are preparing for elections. If enemy leaders and propagandists now make it clear to the population that it will happen, then it is unknown how Russians will react to it,” Chernyak said.
He noted that, according to the HUR’s estimates, “the probability of mobilization in Russia precisely after the elections remains.”
The intelligence representative also commented on the issue of the possible deployment of additional capacities by the Russian authorities for the training of recruits. According to him, there is no need for this, as Russia can use existing training centers.
“They have enough training centers, they have enough existing training grounds. And mobilization is needed to strengthen the existing directions. That is, they do not need new infrastructure for mobilization, they simply need ‘cannon fodder’ to go to war,” Chernyak explained.
Threat from Belarus
In addition, he also reported that Ukrainian military intelligence currently does not observe signs of the formation of a Russian strike group on the territory of Belarus.
“As of now, no signs of preparations for any strike groups on the territory of Belarus are observed. There are about 50,000 Belarusian army personnel, there are Russian support units, but we do not see any threatening activity. Of course, in a few weeks, Russians can transfer their forces there, but for now, this is not being recorded,” explained the HUR representative.
Recall that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, does not rule out a new wave of mobilization in Russia, noting that such a scenario is possible as a last resort, most likely after the State Duma elections in the Russian Federation in September 2026. The Ukrainian military leadership is preparing for any enemy actions and considers all possible threats to counter them.
