The President of Finland has outlined a rather unexpected and stern scenario for the conclusion of the war in Ukraine, which involves a temporary pause on the front lines and the internal collapse of the aggressor nation itself.

For the successful initiation of a peace process in Ukraine, it is necessary to achieve an unconditional and comprehensive ceasefire for 60 days, following the American formula. Furthermore, it will not be economic difficulties or catastrophic army losses that will ultimately compel Russia to end the war, but exclusively a large-scale revolt by its own population.
This was stated by the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, in an interview with Politico.
The American Peace Formula
The President of Finland believes that to resume the peace process, the so-called American formula, which has already been applied to resolve conflicts in Gaza and Iran, should be utilized. The main step of this initiative should be a two-month pause on the front lines. This process should be entirely unconditional and comprehensive from both sides.
“We need a sixty-day ceasefire,” the politician explained, highlighting the primary requirement for initiating dialogue.
Responding to a question about the feasibility of such a scenario, the politician noted that Donald Trump is a very skilled negotiator. Therefore, he is potentially capable of ensuring the implementation of these complex agreements.
Ukraine’s Advantage and Russia’s Vulnerability
Assessing the current battlefield situation, Alexander Stubb emphasized that Ukraine now possesses significantly more leverage for negotiations than at any point since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Another positive signal is the shift in public sentiment within the aggressor nation. According to the president, the majority of the Russian population already desires a definitive end to this war.
At the same time, the head of Finland cautioned against futile illusions regarding the reasons for the potential downfall of the Russian regime. He is convinced that Russia will never cease its aggression due to extensive economic hardships or the colossal loss of its own soldiers. The sole genuine factor that will force the Kremlin to retreat is an internal public revolt.
“The war will end if the population turns against it,” Alexander Stubb stated emphatically.
