Participants in the negotiations between the United States and Iran, held in Switzerland, held productive consultations on all points of the preliminary memorandum signed on June 17.

This was reported on social network X by correspondent Barak Ravid, citing an American diplomatic source.

According to the diplomat, the parties discussed in detail all components of future agreements, as well as mechanisms that should ensure a common understanding of positions among all participants in the negotiation process.

Among the key topics of the meeting were Iran’s nuclear program, a ceasefire in Lebanon, and the security of vessel passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

The parties paid special attention to resolving the conflict in Lebanon. According to the source, the Iranian delegation insisted on this.

Recent statements by Tehran about the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transportation routes, were also discussed during the negotiations.

The American diplomat stated that the parties managed to achieve “good progress” in this direction and move closer to agreements on guaranteeing the full opening of the sea route.

Following the first round of consultations, according to the interlocutor of the journalist, all four parties to the negotiation process were satisfied with the course of the meeting, and the mediators helped create conditions for further strengthening of trust between Washington and Tehran.

Peace Agreements

Recently, the United States and Iran officially announced the achievement of a peace agreement, which was planned to be signed on June 19 in Geneva with the mediation of Pakistan. Immediately after these successful diplomatic steps, Donald Trump announced the immediate lifting of the American blockade and the opening of transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

For their part, the G7 leaders publicly expressed their readiness to support Washington’s plan for rapid demining and restoration of safe navigation in this region. However, European allies emphasized the need to obtain reliable long-term guarantees from Tehran before sending their warships there.

Despite loud statements about a historic reconciliation between the USA and Iran, the leadership of Israel refused to comply with these decisions, emphasizing its status as an independent state. Israeli officials made it clear that the American agreement is not binding for them and will not stop their military operations.

International experts noted that the normalization of trade and the return to pre-war transportation volumes would in any case require at least several weeks of coordinated work. At the same time, this Middle Eastern deal would allow the Trump administration to focus more on military aid and negotiation processes regarding Ukraine.

We remind you that on June 18, the United States of America lifted restrictions on maritime traffic to Iranian ports and coastal areas. The corresponding decision was made on the orders of US President Donald Trump.
