President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he was aware of the preparation of a Ukrainian operation that took place on the day of his meetings with international partners. At the same time, according to him, it was not specifically timed to coincide with negotiations with US President Donald Trump.

This was discussed in Zelenskyy’s interview with TSN anchor Alla Mazur.

Zelenskyy emphasized that he oversees such processes, but the exact timing of the operation’s execution was not tied to the diplomatic meeting schedule.

“I knew that we had an operation that day, absolutely. I control all these processes. But at what second, at what minute it would happen, or if it could coincide with a meeting with Trump – no,” the president said.

According to Zelenskyy, the G7 participants were already aware of the Ukrainian operation during the negotiations and had seen its outcome. The president noted that the G7 leaders supported Ukraine’s actions as a just response to Russian aggression.

“The entire Group of Seven at the negotiation table knew about our operation, had already seen the result at that moment, and absolutely supported Ukraine’s just, adequate response,” he stated.

Zelenskyy also mentioned that, in his opinion, the G7 had, for the first time, shown such unified support for Ukraine regarding the intensification of sanctions pressure on Russia.

According to the president, prior to this, partners had witnessed the consequences of massive Russian shelling of Kyiv, including damage to a Christian shrine. Zelenskyy recounted showing leaders photographs of Ukrainian sites that had suffered from Russian attacks.

“I showed photographs of our cathedral, the Lavra, and not only. Everyone saw how the cathedral burned, they saw these photographs, they knew about the casualties,” Zelenskyy said.

The president added that European leaders and the American side had seen Ukraine’s arguments and understood that the Russian strikes were not accidental.

Strike on Moscow: latest news

On June 18, Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow. Fires and heavy smoke were reported after strikes on a refinery in the Russian capital.

Subsequently, local residents began complaining about a black residue covering cars, house windows, and clothing. This was likely caused by the aftermath of fires following the attack on the refinery.

Amidst this, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down nearly 1,000 drones and missiles, of which about 200, according to the Russian department, were heading towards Moscow. It is impossible to independently verify these figures.

The Kremlin reacted to the massive Ukrainian strikes on Moscow, which frightened Russians and damaged the refinery. Putin’s administration is dissatisfied with the attack and stated that such strikes “do not bring personal contacts closer” with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
