The Strait of Hormuz is continuing to operate as usual, with even increased commercial vessel traffic passing through it on June 20th. Despite Iran’s assertions of closing the strait, shipping activities persist.
This information has been released by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).
What is happening in the Strait of Hormuz – a US statement
According to official data from the American command, 55 merchant ships transited the strait on June 20th. These vessels transported over 17 million barrels of oil. They also added that they continue to oversee the situation and safeguard the free passage of vessels through the strait.
“On June 20th, 55 merchant ships reportedly passed through the strait, carrying substantial volumes of cargo and over 17 million barrels of oil to global markets,” stated CENTCOM.
Additionally, the Combined Maritime Information Center issued guidance confirming safe passage for all vessels along a route that should be “free from arbitrary demands and hindrances.”
The US Armed Forces command emphasized that American military forces remain in the region and are maintaining vigilance to ensure adherence to all agreements with Iran.

As a reminder, President Trump recently announced that the Strait of Hormuz is reopening for tankers.
Furthermore, he assured that oil tankers had begun departing the Strait of Hormuz and were proceeding via a secure southern route.
Earlier, Donald Trump had also reiterated a series of threats against Iran, “if they do not behave properly.”
