Tender, golden, and with the aroma of summer – these are the strawberry pastries that grandmothers used to bake in every home. Soft yeast dough, juicy berry filling, and an appetizing crust after baking in the oven – a simple recipe that brings back childhood memories.

TSN.ua has prepared a recipe for strawberry pastries – just like grandma used to make.

Dough Ingredients:

  • 500 ml of milk

  • 100 g of sugar

  • 10 g of vanilla sugar

  • 30 g of fresh or 10 g of dry yeast

  • 600–650 g of flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 60–70 g of butter

Filling Ingredients:

  • 300 g of strawberries

  • 2–3 tbsp of sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp of cornstarch

Preparation

  1. Add yeast, sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, and eggs to warm milk and mix well with a whisk.

  2. Gradually add sifted flour to the liquid mixture. Knead the dough.

  3. Melt the butter and, at the end of kneading, add it in portions to the dough, which needs to be kneaded well. It is important that the butter is not hot.

  4. Place the dough in a bowl, cover it, and leave it in a warm place for 1.5 hours to rise.

  5. Cut the strawberries into four pieces, or six if they are large. Place them in a bowl, combine with starch and sugar, and mix.

  6. When the dough has risen, divide it into 10 equal parts. Form balls, and then flatten them by hand into a disk.

  7. Place the filling on the dough, pinch the edges well. Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Once all pastries are formed, cover them and let them rise for 15–20 minutes.

  8. Brush with egg and place in a preheated oven. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 20–25 minutes.
