The law enforcement officers have officially notified the 49-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz, who caused a horrific car crash in the Solomensky district of Kyiv, of suspicion.

The capital’s law enforcement officers have announced suspicion to the perpetrator of a high-profile road traffic accident that claimed the lives of four pedestrians. The man is accused of violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death and injury of people.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reports on the details of the investigation into this bloody accident and the identity of the detained driver. Currently, the pre-trial investigation in this case is actively being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the city of Kyiv.
Details of the Tragedy and Victims
The investigation has established that around five o’clock in the afternoon of June fifth, the driver of the car was moving along Chokolivsky Boulevard at a significantly exceeding speed. On a curved section of the road, the man lost control, drove off the roadway, and crashed into people in an underground passage.
As a result of this powerful impact, four pedestrians instantly died at the scene of the catastrophe. The victims of irresponsible driving were two district police officers, a local resident, and a twelve-year-old boy, while three other people sustained bodily injuries of varying degrees of severity.
History of Violations and Threat of Imprisonment
The perpetrator of the accident himself also sustained injuries, but they do not pose a threat to his life. The examination confirmed that the man was completely sober at the time of the accident, but since the beginning of last year, he had accumulated as many as ten fines for various rule violations, half of which were for speeding.
Currently, the detained suspect is in a hospital ward under strict guard. Prosecutors have already handed him a motion for detention without the right to bail, and for the committed crime, the driver faces up to ten years of imprisonment and disqualification from driving.
