The United States strongly condemned Russia’s massive attacks on Kyiv, particularly the use of “Oreshnik” ballistic missiles.
This was announced by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, Tammy Bruce, during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
According to Bruce, the latest Russian attacks resulted in civilian casualties, over 100 people were injured, and residential buildings, museums, and transport infrastructure were damaged.
“This is another example of why the war between Russia and Ukraine must end immediately and forever,” emphasized the US representative.
She stressed that deliberate attacks on the civilian population are unacceptable and expressed condolences to those affected.
The US also warned Russia against further attacks on Kyiv, which could lead to new civilian casualties and further complicate the prospects for a peaceful settlement.
The American side separately highlighted the violation of international law regarding the protection of diplomatic facilities.
Bruce stated that Washington reminds Moscow of its international legal obligations.
According to her, the only path to ending the war remains through diplomacy and negotiations.
The US also called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire as a first step towards achieving a lasting peace.
The US representative added that negotiations between the parties must take place in a spirit of good will.
Furthermore, the speech mentioned the position of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding Washington’s readiness to facilitate a peaceful settlement under appropriate conditions.
Earlier, it was reported that over 50 countries at a UN meeting condemned Moscow’s new threats to attack Kyiv.
